About The Ranch Colorado Alpacas! Colorado Alpacas: Weather’d T Ranch is owned and operated by Gary and Cindy Truitt. We raise our Colorado alpacas as a family business with our son Wade, daughter-in-law Marianne and granddaughter Alex working with us on the ranch. In addition to our family's full time work on the ranch we have 3 people on our staff working daily in the care and maintenance of the alpacas and ranch. Our Colorado alpaca ranch was established in 1999 and consists of 110 acres of native grass land. We are located 60 miles southeast of Denver in the high plains of beautiful Colorado. The ranch was started with a dream to have a simpler way of life and to raise an animal that was enjoyable to work with each day and also one that would provide an income for us. The first time we saw these beautiful, magnificent animals running in a pasture we knew we had found our dream! Our dream has turned into a reality. We have learned many things about our alpacas and are realizing that each day with them is a learning experience. They are truly an animal to respect and we are privileged to care for them. The fiber has a luxurious quality and the yarn produced from the fiber can be woven, knitted or crocheted.
